Late 19th or Early 20th Century Wooden Architectural Plate Rack Frame
Description
This architectural wooden frame dates from the late 19th or early 20th century and was likely originally utilised as a wall-mounted plate rack or a decorative component for an interior screen or dresser top. The frame is crafted from a dark-stained wood, possibly oak, with visible mortise and tenon joinery. It features a prominent moulded cornice at the top edge and is divided into multiple vertical compartments by narrow slats. Decorative pierced scrollwork brackets accent the outer corners of the upper and lower horizontal sections. Two metal mounting tabs are affixed to the vertical stiles for wall installation. A small, illegible rectangular sticker is present on one of the outer rails.
