Hubert Bequet Quaregnon Polychrome Ceramic Footed Compote
Description
This footed ceramic compote, or tazza, is of Belgian manufacture, produced by the Hubert Bequet factory in Quaregnon. The interior of the bowl is decorated with a central hand-painted motif of a colourful bird amidst stylised polychrome flowers and foliage, all set against a dark green ground. The rim and interior border are finished with heavy gilding and a white lattice pattern. The exterior of the bowl and the circular foot are similarly decorated with gilded borders and floral motifs. The base bears a green stamped maker’s mark within an oval frame containing the text MADE IN BELGIUM, H. BEQUET, and QUAREGNON.
