Description

A French Modèle 1874 Gras infantry bayonet, manufactured for use with the 11mm Gras rifle. The weapon features a long T-section steel blade designed for structural rigidity. The hilt assembly is comprised of a steel crossguard with a characteristic hooked quillon and an integrated muzzle ring. The grip is formed of two-piece wooden scales secured by two rivets, finished with a stepped brass pommel that houses the spring-loaded attachment mechanism. The spine of the blade is professionally engraved in a cursive script with the manufacture details: Mre d’Armes de St Etienne Aout 1876. The bayonet is paired with its original tapered steel scabbard which terminates in a ball-end finial.

Blade length: 52cm.
