Lot 161:
A Vintage Model of the Adler Steam Locomotive and Tender
Description
A vintage model of the historic Adler steam locomotive and matching two-axle tender, representing the first steam train to operate in Germany in 1835. The model is constructed from painted tinplate and die-cast metal. The locomotive features a green-painted boiler with a black-finished chimney and smokebox, mounted on a red-painted chassis with spoked wheels. A raised plaque on the side of the boiler is inscribed with the name ADLER. The tender is finished in matching green and red livery. The set includes brass-toned decorative accents, including handrails and boiler fittings. The model lacks visible clockwork or electrical motor components, indicating it is a static display or push-along toy. A modern adhesive paper label with the handwritten number 9731 is present on the tender.
Locomotive length: 17cm
Tender length: 12cm
Total length: 30cm.
