Lot 93:
A Trio of Victorian Hand-Coloured Map Engravings
Description
A trio of hand-coloured engravings on paper, featuring historical British cartography in the 17th-century style. This collection includes a strip road map depicting a route from London, characteristic of John Ogilby’s Britannia (circa 1675), alongside county maps of Middlesex and Buckinghamshire. Each map is adorned with decorative title cartouches, heraldic crests, and delicate hand-tinted watercolour washes. The works are presented in a Victorian oil on board style, housed within dark-stained wood frames with gilded inner slips under glass. The maps include a Middlesex county map titled A MAPP of the County of MIDDLESEX and a map of Buckinghamshire.
