A late Victorian mahogany serpentine-fronted sideboard
Description
A mahogany serpentine-fronted sideboard in the Regency revival style, dating to the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. The piece is constructed with flame mahogany veneers and features a shaped top with a low, scalloped backboard gallery. The frontage is configured with a central bank of two drawers, flanked on either side by a single cupboard door. Each door contains a recessed arched panel showcasing the decorative grain of the mahogany. The drawers and cupboards are fitted with brass swan-neck handles on ornate backplates. The sideboard is supported by four turned, compressed bun feet. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the exterior or interior of the piece.
