A Melba Bone China Windmill Pattern Tea Service
Description
An assortment of Melba bone china tea wares of British manufacture, featuring a transfer-printed rural landscape pattern. The design depicts a windmill, a stone bridge over a stream, and cottages in a country setting, accented with hand-painted floral details in orange-red and green. The collection includes a square-form cake plate with a scalloped edge, a cream jug, an open sugar bowl, several teacups, and a group of saucers and side plates. Each piece is finished with a scalloped rim and hand-applied gilding to the edges and handles. The bases of the teacups bear an underglaze circular mark featuring a crown and the name MELBA, alongside the words MADE IN ENGLAND and BONE CHINA. A hand-painted pattern number 5721 is present in gold on the underside.
