Description

This extensive group lot comprises various items of British police and service insignia, primarily from the mid-to-late 20th century. The collection includes several large eight-pointed star helmet plates, most notably for the West Yorkshire Police featuring red and blue enamel, and the Northumbria Police in white metal. Other regional forces represented include South Yorkshire Police, Lancashire Constabulary, and Thames Valley Police. The items display a mix of King’s Crowns (pre-1953) and Queen’s Crowns (post-1953). Materials consist of chrome or nickel-plated white metal, gilt metal, enamel, and plastic. Included is a Sergeant Williams nameplate, a Driver badge, numeric shoulder tags (H8322, 286), and a group of items on a yellow backing card labelled Paris Airport Staff Uniform, which includes a red cross badge. The lot is completed by a variety of uniform buttons in black composition and silver-tone metal, some featuring specific force crests or the royal cypher. A prominent ornate gilt-metal badge with a red fabric backing is also present.
