Second World War German Luftwaffe Second Model Officer's Dagger with Scabbard REPLICA
Description
A German Luftwaffe Second Model Officer’s dagger, REPLICA a pattern introduced in 1937 for wear by officers and high-ranking NCOs. The hilt features a globular pommel with an embossed swastika on both sides, encircled by an oak leaf border. The grip is made of ribbed, cream-coloured celluloid. The crossguard is cast in the form of a Luftwaffe eagle in flight, clutching a swastika in its talons, with a pebbled reverse. The item has a double-edged, tapered steel blade. Both sides of the blade are decorated with acid-etched floral scrollwork. The scabbard is constructed of steel with a pebbled finish. It features two suspension bands decorated with embossed oak leaf motifs, each holding a loose square-profile carrying ring. The scabbard terminates in a rounded finial. No maker’s name, logo, or RZM marks are visible on the metal components. A small adhesive label is attached to the scabbard with the handwritten characters 6571.
