Two Military Decorations: A British France and Germany Star and a French Croix de Guerre des Théâtres d'Opérations Extérieurs
Description
This lot comprises two bronze military decorations. The first is a British France and Germany Star, a campaign medal from the Second World War. The medal is a six-pointed bronze star, with the obverse featuring a central circlet topped by a crown. The circlet is inscribed THE FRANCE AND GERMANY STAR and contains the royal cypher GRI VI. The reverse of the star is plain and unnamed. It is suspended from a silk ribbon with three equal vertical stripes of blue, white, and red. The second item is a French Croix de Guerre des Théâtres d’Opérations Extérieurs (TOE). This is a bronze cross pattée with two crossed swords between the arms. The obverse central medallion depicts the profile head of the Republic, while the reverse medallion bears the inscription THÉÂTRES D’OPÉRATIONS EXTÉRIEURS. This medal is suspended from a ribbon with a light blue central band and red edges and is housed in a clear plastic protective sleeve.
