A Trio of First World War Miniature Campaign Medals comprising 1914 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal
Description
This group of miniature medals represents the First World War campaign trio colloquially known as Pip, Squeak and Wilfred. The set includes a bronze 1914 Star with a central scroll inscribed 1914, complete with a ribbon clasp dated 5TH AUG – 22ND NOV 1914. The British War Medal is a silver-coloured disc with the profile of King George V on the obverse and a mounted figure on the reverse. The Victory Medal is a bronze disc depicting a winged figure of Victory on the obverse and the words THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILISATION 1914-1919 on the reverse. The medals are swing-mounted onto a pin-back metal bar. The ribbons are made of silk in their respective campaign colours. As is standard for miniature medals of this period, they are not named.
