A Collection of British Military Insignia including Grenadier Guards Rank Badge and 8th Army Items
Description
A collection of British military insignia and related service items. The group is led by a post-1953 Colour Sergeant rank badge for the Grenadier Guards, Household Division. The insignia is constructed from gold and silver bullion wire on a black wool backing, featuring the St. Edwards Crown above a crimson silk ground embroidered with the royal cypher of Queen Elizabeth II. This central element is flanked by laurel sprays and crossed Mameluke swords. The badge retains a small white adhesive label with the handwritten number 9705. The collection further includes a single Africa Star medal ribbon bar with a central brass numeral 8, representing service with the Eighth Army during the Second World War. Accompanying this is a stamped brass slip-on shoulder title for the 8th Army. Two military-themed stick pins are included: one in silver-toned metal featuring a crown and wreath design, and another in gold-toned metal shaped as a cross pattee.
