Soviet USSR Navy Surface Ship Commander Badge Leningrad Mint
Description
A Soviet Navy (VMF) officer’s badge for a Commander of a Surface Ship (Komandir Korablya). The badge is struck in silver-toned metal and features the profile of a Soviet cruiser with a red enamel five-pointed star on the hull. It utilises a screw-back fastening mechanism. The original circular nut is present and bears the Cyrillic maker’s mark for the Leningrad Mint (Leningradskiy Monetny Dvor). This insignia was introduced in the late 1980s for commanding officers of surface vessels.
