A King's South Africa Medal with Two Clasps to Driver W. Jones, Army Service Corps
Description
A silver British military campaign medal, the King’s South Africa Medal, awarded for service during the later stages of the Second Boer War. The obverse features the profile of King Edward VII in field marshal’s uniform, facing left, with the legend EDWARDVS VII REX IMPERATOR. The reverse depicts Britannia holding a Union flag and a laurel wreath, with marching troops and warships in the background, under the legend SOUTH AFRICA. The medal is suspended from two silver state clasps inscribed SOUTH AFRICA 1901 and SOUTH AFRICA 1902. The edge is officially impressed with the recipient’s service details: 14252 DVR: W. JONES. A.S.C. The medal is accompanied by its original three-stripe ribbon in orange, white, and green.
