A Second World War British Italy Star Medal
Description
An original British campaign medal from the Second World War identified as the Italy Star. The medal is struck in bronze in the form of a six-pointed star. The obverse features the Royal Cypher of King George VI, GRI, with the Roman numerals VI below, all surmounted by a crown. This central design is surrounded by a circlet inscribed THE ITALY STAR. The reverse of the medal is plain and is not named. The medal is complete with its original silk ribbon featuring five equal vertical stripes in the colours of the Italian national flag: red, white, green, white, and red. A small paper lot tag marked 9703 is pinned to the ribbon.
