Queen's South Africa Medal with Five Clasps
Description
A silver Queen’s South Africa Medal (QSA) The obverse features the veiled bust of Queen Victoria facing left, with the legend VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX. The reverse is the second type design without the dates 1899-1900, depicting Britannia holding a flag and laurel wreath with a fleet of warships and marching troops in the background, titled SOUTH AFRICA. The medal is fitted with five silver clasps mounted in chronological order from bottom to top: CAPE COLONY, ORANGE FREE STATE, TRANSVAAL, SOUTH AFRICA 1901, and SOUTH AFRICA 1902.The medal is suspended from its original silk ribbon with vertical stripes of red, dark blue, and orange.
