Lot 262:
A Group of Hand-Painted Metal Napoleonic Military Miniatures Depicting French Hussars
Description
A group of hand-painted cast metal military miniatures representing French Hussars of the Napoleonic Wars. The figures are depicted in dynamic charging and combat stances on horseback. The hussars are uniformed in red dolmans with yellow braiding and lace, blue breeches, and black fur colbacks with white plumes and red bags, consistent with the dress of the 5th Hussar Regiment. One mounted figure serves as a standard-bearer, carrying a flagpole topped with an Imperial Eagle and a tricolour silk-style flag. The text on the reverse of the flag reads L’EMPEREUR NAPOLEON AU 5e REGIMENT D’INFANTERIE DE LIGNE. The collection includes a scenic vignette depicting a fallen horse and soldier as a battlefield casualty. The miniatures are mounted on varied bases, including flat green-painted metal and textured, modelled scenic ground.
