Mid-19th Century William IV Style Serpentine Mahogany Sideboard
Description
A mahogany sideboard constructed with a serpentine-fronted top and a low, shaped gallery backsplash. The front elevation features two central drawers positioned vertically, flanked by two cupboard doors with arched panels. The drawer fronts and door panels are finished with figured flame mahogany veneers. The piece is supported by six substantial turned bulbous feet. It retains cast brass bail handles with decorative backplates and brass keyhole escutcheons. The interior of the central section contains two drawers, while the flanking cupboards provide additional storage space. The interior of the left-hand cupboard shows evidence of former shelving or partitions.
