Wade Ceramics, Collection of 23 Whimsies Animal Figurines
Description
A collection of approximately 23 miniature glazed ceramic figurines produced by Wade Ceramics in England, famously known as Wade Whimsies. This diverse assortment includes various wildlife such as a hedgehog, elephant, owl, rabbits, squirrels, and fawns, alongside domestic animals including several dog breeds, cats in various poses, and a duck. The set also features bears and small rodents. Each piece is finished in a high-gloss glaze with a palette of tan, brown, grey, blue, and reddish-brown colours. These figurines were often distributed as premiums in Red Rose Tea boxes between the 1960s and 1980s. While bases are not visible, they typically bear the embossed WADE ENGLAND mark. Height approximately 2.5 cm to 3.8 cm.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good vintage condition. No significant chips, cracks, or professional repairs are evident. Minor flea bite chips or slight glaze wear may be present on extremities such as ears or tails, consistent with age and handling.
