A Collection of Mason's Patent Ironstone China Tableware in the Strathmore Pattern
Description
A collection of Mason’s Patent Ironstone China tableware in the Strathmore pattern, comprising a rectangular twin-handled tray, two pitchers of graduated sizes, and several plates and saucers. Each piece features a cream-coloured body decorated with polychrome transfer-printed floral motifs in shades of blue, yellow, pink, and green, centred by a large blue blossom and enclosed by a repeating floral border. The undersides bear a blue underglaze backstamp with a crown mark, MASON’S PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA, Strathmore, ENGLAND, and the pattern number C 4792. The mark also includes the text GUARANTEED PERMANENT & ACID RESISTING COLOURS. This set exemplifies the durable and decorative ironstone wares produced in England, featuring a design that balances traditional Regency-style floral arrangements with a vibrant palette. Tray 28cm x 23cm, Large Pitcher 15cm height, Small Pitcher 13cm height, Plates 23cm diameter.
Condition report:
The collection is in overall good condition. Fine, age-related crazing is visible across the glaze surfaces of all pieces, which is characteristic of ironstone of this vintage. No chips, cracks, or evidence of restoration were observed during inspection. The transfer-printed decoration remains bright and well-defined.
