Description
A late 20th-century folding butler’s tray table, designed in the traditional Georgian taste. The piece comprises a removable rectangular tray with bowed ends, featuring an inset green leather surface decorated with a gold-tooled foliate border. The tray rests upon a separate X-frame folding stand constructed from mahogany-stained hardwood, characterised by turned spindles and brass pivot points. This piece serves as a functional reproduction of classic English campaign furniture. No maker’s marks are visible. Dimensions: H 72 cm x W 75 cm x D 48 cm.
Condition report:
The piece is structurally sound and fit for purpose. The inset leather surface displays some fading and a light patina from use. The wood finish shows minor surface scuffs and small abrasions consistent with its age as a reproduction piece. The folding mechanism is in good working order.
