Europa Artist's Palette Novelty Desk Clock, Mid-Century Modern, Gold-Toned Metal
Description
A vintage Mid-Century Modern novelty desk clock by Europa, designed in the whimsical form of an artist’s palette. The gold-toned metal case is decorated with four dabs of coloured enamel representing paint in red, blue, green, and yellow, and features two integrated paintbrush accents. The central circular dial is finished in white with Arabic numerals at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 positions, interspersed with wedge hour markers. The dial is signed EUROPA, 7 JEWELS, and FOR LONDON. This piece is a characteristic example of mid-20th-century novelty horology and features a mechanical 7-jewel movement. Dimensions: approximately 15 cm x 11 cm.
Condition report:
The 7-jewel mechanical movement is untested for functionality and timekeeping accuracy. The metal body displays a significant aged patina with surface tarnish and minor wear throughout consistent with age. The dial and glass appear in good order. A temporary inventory label is present on the lower front.
