Lot 148:
A Collection of English and Asian Ceramic Decorative Wares Including Wade Heath and Character Jugs
Description
A varied collection of English and Asian-inspired ceramic decorative wares. The lot features a mid-20th century Wade Heath cottage-form covered dish, exhibiting relief-moulded architectural details and polychrome glazes, bearing the manufacturer’s mark to the base. Also included are two miniature hand-painted character jugs with green underglaze factory marks. The tallest piece is a cylindrical porcelain vase featuring a graduated green and yellow ground with hand-painted chrysanthemum and floral motifs, marked with red characters to the underside. The set is completed by two decorative bells: one in white porcelain with a gilded figurative handle, and another in blue and white ceramic with relief-moulded pastoral scenes. Vase height approximately 25 cm. Cottage dish width approximately 14 cm.
Condition report:
The collection is in good overall condition. Minor rubbing is visible to the gilding on the porcelain bell handle. Fine age-related crazing is present on the Wade Heath cottage dish, which is typical for this type of earthenware. No chips, cracks, or signs of repair were noted during inspection.
