Description

This mid-to-late 20th-century reproduction chest of drawers is designed in the Chippendale taste, constructed from mahogany veneers and solid reddish-brown hardwood. The piece features a moulded overhanging top above a configuration of five graduated drawers, each fitted with brass-finished batwing-style bail handles. The carcase is supported by shaped bracket feet with a decorative curve to the apron. The exterior is finished in a consistent satin lustre, typical of high-quality manufacturers from the latter half of the century such as Stanley or Kaufman. While the secondary woods and internal joinery are not visible, the piece exhibits the clean lines and traditional proportions associated with Georgian-revival cabinetry. The construction is modern, referencing 18th-century design. No maker’s marks are present. Dimensions: 76cm H x 61cm W x 41cm D.

Condition report:

The chest remains in good structural condition. The finish shows minor surface abrasions, light scratches, and wear consistent with age and domestic use. There are no visible signs of woodworm, major splits, or significant losses to the timber. A small adhesive lot sticker is present on one drawer face.
