Lot 117:
Regency Revival Mahogany-Stained Hardwood Window Stool
Description
A mid-20th century Regency Revival window or vanity stool, constructed from solid hardwood with a rich mahogany-toned finish. The design is defined by its elegant out-swept splayed legs and rising scroll-top side handles, drawing inspiration from early 19th-century Neoclassical forms. The central rectangular frame supports a fixed upholstered seat, currently finished in an aged floral brocade fabric with a palette of muted gold and ochre. The perimeter is detailed with brass-toned nailhead trim. While no maker’s marks are visible, the piece demonstrates solid joinery typical of quality revivalist furniture. Dimensions: Approximately 56 cm H x 52 cm W x 36 cm D.
Condition report:
The structural integrity is sound with no significant movement in the joints. The wood finish exhibits minor surface abrasions, scuffs to the lower legs, and light edge wear consistent with age and use. The upholstery shows general signs of age, including light staining and wear to the fabric pile. The brass-toned studs show minor tarnishing. No evidence of woodworm or previous structural repairs.
