Vintage Domestic Leisure and Children's Games Collection, Ephemera and Books, c. 1890-1950

This diverse collection of early-to-mid 20th-century paper goods and leisure items comprises various games, instructional booklets, and decorative ephemera. Key items include a vintage The Landseer Water Colour Stencilout No. 1 box set featuring an illustrated lid depicting children at play, and two traditional wooden slide-top boxes for Chess and Draughts. The literary component includes a hardback copy of The Imperial Draught Book with a red and brown cover, a red cloth-bound volume, and a children’s story booklet titled The Golden Goose with text by the prolific British author Gladys Davidson. The ephemera selection features a Victorian-style floral scrap with roses, a colourful eight-panel printed card depicting anthropomorphic cartoon animals, and various loose instructional sheets with decorative borders. Condition report:
The collection is in an aged, as found condition. The paper ephemera and loose sheets exhibit significant age-toning, edge fraying, minor foxing, and visible creases. The Imperial Draught Book shows wear to the spine and edges, while the red cloth book has faded. The Landseer cardboard box shows shelf wear, bumped corners, and light staining to the lid. The wooden game boxes have surface scuffs and some loss to the original paper labels.
