An R. Stroud & Son Ltd Copper Railway Milk Churn
Description
An antique copper railway milk churn of tapered cylindrical form, featuring iron side latches and a fitted lid with a central handle. A circular brass maker’s plate is applied to the side, featuring a central griffin trade mark and text reading MANUFACTURED BY THE R. STROUD & SON LTD WOLVERHAMPTON PATENTEES. The lid is inset with two oval brass identification plaques; one is inscribed EMPTY J. MULLINER BALTERLEY RADWAY GREEN STN and the second reads FULL CITY DAIRIES MANCHESTER MAYFIELD STN. The name J. MULLINER RADWAY GREEN STN is also incised directly into the copper surface of the main body. A white adhesive auction sticker bearing the number 12876 is affixed to the lid handle.
