A Collection of Enamelled and Jewelled Metal Egg-Shaped Trinket Boxes
Description
An assortment of decorative metal trinket boxes, each of ovoid form. The collection features a variety of designs including scrolling foliate patterns, geometric latticework, and abstract swirling motifs. Each piece is finished in vibrant coloured enamels such as crimson, forest green, deep purple, and ochre, further embellished with an array of clear and tinted crystals and rhinestones. Most examples are mounted on ornate gilt-metal tripod or four-legged stands with foliate or scroll feet. The boxes are constructed with hinged closures. A central crimson egg bears a white adhesive label reading SHELBYS AUCTIONEERS LOT 291 01132602626. A cream-ground egg with red decoration carries a white adhesive label with handwritten characters reading 12850. No other marks, signatures, or maker labels are visible on the items.
