A large late 19th or early 20th-century British two-tone salt-glazed stoneware flagon
Description
This large two-tone salt-glazed stoneware flagon features a deep brown glazed shoulder and neck over an off-white cream-coloured body. The vessel is constructed with a substantial strap handle incorporating a thumb rest at the top and a terminal marked by a circular indentation on the shoulder. Near the base, a circular tap hole is present, currently fitted with a bung. Several markings are visible: a white adhesive label reading SHELBYS AUCTIONEERS LOT 280 01132502626, a smaller rectangular adhesive label handwritten 50/-, and an incised capital V near the base.
