A Second World War German Model 1884/98 III Bayonet with Scabbard
Description
A Second World War German Model 1884/98 III bayonet with its accompanying steel scabbard. The ricasso is stamped on one side with the alphanumeric code 44 cvl. The reverse side is stamped with the serial number 2639 above a lowercase cursive n. The blade is constructed with a single fuller and a spear point. The hilt consists of two-piece light-coloured wooden grips secured by two flush rivets and a steel pommel. The scabbard is formed of steel with a round ball finial and an integrated frog stud. A white rectangular adhesive label is attached to the wooden grip, bearing the printed number 12852 above a delta symbol. A second white adhesive label is attached to the scabbard, bearing the printed text SHELBYS AUCTIONEERS above LOT 250.
