A Silver-Plated Mounted Horn Desk Stand
Description
A decorative desk stand or table snuff mull featuring a polished bovine horn body. The horn is fitted with white metal mounts, including a hinged lid and a tiered terminal cap ending in a ball finial. The lid is inset with a large, faceted, pink-coloured paste stone. The interior of the horn contains a circular liner, visible in photo 2. The assembly is supported by a turned brass pillar mounted on a rectangular polished wood base. A white adhesive auction tag is attached reading SHELBYS AUCTIONEERS, LOT 245, and 01132502626. A smaller white sticker on the wood base is handwritten with 12850 d. Small stamped marks are present on the metal band near the hinge but are not legible.
