A Poole Pottery Delphis Range Abstract Design Earthenware Charger
Description
A mid-20th-century Poole Pottery earthenware charger from the Delphis range. The shallow circular dish is hand-painted with a vibrant, psychedelic abstract design. The composition features bold, organic shapes in a colour palette of fiery red, yellow, grass green, and deep blue, all set against a bright orange ground. The design elements are defined by thick, textured black outlines characteristic of the Delphis reactive glaze technique. The underside bears a printed factory mark in black, featuring a stylized dolphin logo above the word POOLE and below the word England. There is also a hand-painted decorator’s monogram in black script, Bm. The face of the dish retains two labels: one from Shelbys Auctioneers for Lot 112, and a smaller inventory label handwritten 12847 B.
