An Assortment of Roman Catholic Devotional Items including an Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem Insignia
Description
This collection contains a variety of Roman Catholic religious and devotional objects, primarily dating from the mid-to-late 20th century. The central item is a neck badge for a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. The insignia features a gilt-metal Jerusalem cross finished in translucent red enamel, suspended from a trophy of arms depicting a cuirass and two helmets. It is attached to a black moiré silk neck ribbon and housed in its original red leatherette presentation case with cream velvet and silk lining. The lot includes a large wall-mounted crucifix featuring a wooden core and white-metal cladding embossed with vignettes depicting the Stations of the Cross. A modernist white-metal crucifix with an elongated corpus is also present, along with several smaller metal crucifixes. The collection contains three complete rosaries: one with faceted translucent red beads, one with alternating opaque light blue and white beads, and one with small round red beads, plus various loose rosary components. An assortment of devotional medals and badges includes a circular blue, white, and red enamel badge reading CATHOLIC MOTHERS UNION in white capital letters. Other medals include a silver-toned example inscribed SOUVENIR OF HOLYWELL and a gold-toned medal partially inscribed ECCLESIA TRA. Iconography across the medals includes depictions of Pope John Paul II, the Virgin Mary (including the Miraculous Medal), and the Sacred Heart. A small printed Polish card featuring a Madonna and Child icon is inscribed z Drzewnej Beskidzie. Also included is a small dark blue leatherette protective pouch and a cameo brooch featuring a red and white profile portrait in a gold-toned setting.
