9 Carat Gold and Enamel Leeds District Interest Fob Medal, 1926
Description
A circular watch fob medal in 9 carat gold with a scroll-top suspension mount. The obverse features a relief-cast coat of arms for the City of Leeds, comprising a central shield with three mullets and a golden fleece, flanked by two owl supporters. An azure blue enamel banner below the crest is inscribed with the motto PRO REGE ET LEGE. The flat reverse is hand-engraved with the inscription L.D.F.L.C.B.L. STOURTON 1926 B. JACKSON. The reverse is struck with a series of British hallmarks including a crown and .375 for 9 carat gold, an anchor representing the Birmingham assay office, and a lowercase b date letter for the year 1926. A maker mark in an oval cartouche reads W G & S.
