A Set of Volumes of The Children's Encyclopedia by Arthur Mee
Description
A set of antique hardback volumes titled THE CHILDREN’S ENCYCLOPEDIA by the author ARTHUR MEE. Each book is bound in maroon cloth with gilt-stamped lettering and decorative horizontal bands to the spine. The spines display the work title, the author name ARTHUR MEE, a volume number spelled in English, and a specific page range. The volumes present include VOLUME ONE, VOLUME TWO, VOLUME THREE, VOLUME FOUR, VOLUME FIVE, VOLUME SIX, VOLUME SEVEN, VOLUME NINE, and VOLUME TEN. A blind-stamped circular device is located at the base of each spine, but the characters within it are not legible. A white rectangular adhesive label from SHELBY’S AUCTIONEERS is attached to the spine of volume six, printed with LOT 394 and the number 01132502626. A second small white adhesive label printed with 501. is fixed to the spine of volume nine. The edges of the text blocks exhibit uniform tanning.
