A Scottish Highland Basket-Hilt Broadsword and Scabbard
Description
A Scottish Highland basket-hilt broadsword, of modern decorative construction, featuring a double-edged steel blade with three narrow fullers and a rounded tip. The hilt consists of a black-painted metal basket with decorative cut-outs, an applied gilded lion rampant emblem, and a red fabric liner. The pommel is set with a large, claw-held, faceted amber-coloured glass or resin stone. The sword is accompanied by its black leather scabbard with a stitched seam and metal fittings. A white rectangular adhesive label on the scabbard reads 258 and a smaller white adhesive label reads 16955 / 2. No other maker marks or country of origin marks are visible.
