Description

An assortment of postage stamps from India and Australia, mounted on two grid-paper leaves. The collection includes issues from the British Commonwealth era under the reigns of Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King George V, and King George VI, alongside early Republic of India issues and mid-20th century Australian commemoratives.

The India page features monarchical definitives including Victoria 1/2a green, Edward VII 3p grey, George V 1/2a green, and George VI denominations up to the 2r purple and brown. A George VI 1a green definitive carries a black SERVICE overprint. Republic of India issues include the 1948 12a brown Mahatma Gandhi, the 1949 Ashoka Lion Capital series (9p, 1a, 2a, 3a), and the 15a blue architectural issue.

The Australia page contains a block of six 2/6d Aborigine stamps with a centralised circular date stamp. Commemorative issues include the 1954 3 1/2d Royal Visit, the 1956 2s Melbourne Olympics, the 1954 1/6d Telegraph centenary, and the 1956 4d Tradition of Service nursing issue. Definitive issues of George VI and Elizabeth II are also present, alongside a 2s Aboriginal art crocodile issue.

Both leaves bear printed text at the lower margin reading PRINTED AND PUBLISHED BY ERRINGTON & MARTIN, SOUTH HACKNEY, LONDON, E.9, ENGLAND. LEAF REF. NO. 3. Handwritten numerical notations in blue and red ink appear across both pages, including the phrase BROWN LAKE £25 in red ink on the Australian leaf.
