A Pair of Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Dressed Teddy Bear Paperweights
Description
Two Royal Crown Derby English bone china teddy bear figurines, designed as paperweights, decorated in the traditional Imari palette of cobalt blue, iron red, and 22ct gold. The first figurine is titled Scottish Teddy – Shona and depicts a seated bear wearing a black waistcoat with gold scrollwork, a red tartan kilt, and a sporran. The sole of the right foot is decorated with a thistle motif. The base is inscribed in gold script with the title, alongside a red Royal Crown Derby backstamp, the Roman numeral date code MMII for 2002, and a hand-painted purple mark. It retains an octagonal gold-coloured metal stopper. The second figurine depicts a Drummer Teddy Bear, wearing a military-style blue jacket with gold frogging and playing a drum with a red and white geometric floral pattern. The base features a red Royal Crown Derby backstamp, the Roman numeral date code LXII for 1999, and a hand-painted purple mark. It retains a circular gold-coloured metal stopper.
