An Early 20th Century Jacobean Revival Oak Sideboard with Barley Twist Legs
Description
An early 20th century Jacobean Revival sideboard constructed from oak with a dark-stained finish. The rectangular top features a low integral backsplash with a central raised diamond-shaped boss and bobbin-moulded end supports. The facade consists of two drawers arranged side-by-side above a two-door cupboard base. The cupboard doors are decorated with recessed panels surrounded by wavy shaped moulding and are fitted with central turned wooden knobs and brass escutcheons. The drawers are equipped with circular brass drop-ring handles on decorative backplates. The piece is raised on two front barley-twist legs terminating in block feet with plain square-section rear legs. There are no visible maker’s marks or labels on the exterior.
