Lot 44:
A Collection of Leeds Pottery Reticulated Creamware Tableware
Description
A comprehensive collection of English creamware produced by Leeds Pottery (Hartley Greens and Co.). This assembly features the delicate Neoclassical aesthetic for which the factory is renowned, characterised by intricate reticulated (pierced) lattice work and embossed relief decoration. The group includes a footed tureen with a pierced lid and body, an ornate sauce boat with a multi-strand handle, a small cream jug, four reticulated egg cups on pedestal bases, two large dinner plates with wide pierced borders, a lobed oval serving dish, and a teacup with a matching saucer. Several pieces bear the impressed circular Leeds Pottery mark to the underside. This style of creamware, originally developed in the late 18th century, remains a hallmark of English ceramic craftsmanship. Tureen measures approximately 28cm in width; plates approximately 25cm in diameter.
