Lot 42:
A Pair of Mdina Art Glass Pieces, comprising a Lidded Vessel and a Paperweight
Description
A pair of Mdina art glass pieces, comprising a lidded vessel with a spherical finial and a separate, solid spherical or ovoid paperweight. Both items feature elaborate internal swirling abstract designs, rendered in rich blues, greens, amber, and iridescent white inclusions, evoking cosmic or nebulous patterns. The lidded vessel bears an etched signature on its side, which appears to read ‘Lana’ or ‘Laura’. The base of the spherical piece is similarly etched with a signature that appears to be ‘Oliwa’ or ‘Oliwia’, followed by ’92’ or ’93’, likely indicating a year of creation.
