Lot 33:
A Worcester 'Harvest Bug' Porcelain Tea Bowl and Saucer c1770
Description
A Worcester ‘Harvest Bug’ porcelain tea bowl and saucer set. The set comprises a white porcelain tea bowl and a subtly lobed saucer, both decorated with a hand-painted polychrome ‘Harvest Bug’ pattern. This pattern features scattered floral sprays in pink, orange, blue, and green, alongside prominent black insects with red details. The saucer’s rim is edged with a thin red line. The underside of the saucer bears two handwritten paper labels: one stating ‘Old Worcester Porcelain circa 1760,’ and another, partially obscured, appearing to read ‘Worcester Porcelain 1765.’ An additional external label identifies the set as ‘Worcester ‘Harvest Bug’ T. Bowl & Saucer c1770.’
