Lot 286:
A Collection of Decorative Ceramics and Glassware including an Arthur Wood and Son Teapot
Description
A diverse collection of decorative ceramics and glassware, featuring a variety of English and European styles. The focal point of the assembly is a fine porcelain teapot by Arthur Wood and Son, decorated in a vibrant ‘Rose Mille’ transfer-printed floral pattern with gilded accents to the rim, spout, and handle, accompanied by a matching open sugar bowl. The lot includes a late Victorian-style biscuit barrel with a floral-printed ceramic body, fitted with a metal lid and swing handle. Further ceramic items include a dark brown glazed musical jug inscribed ‘Little Brown Jug’ with musical notation, a black-glazed bovine figurine on a fixed base, and a small black-glazed teapot featuring gilded Chinoiserie-style motifs. The collection is rounded out by two large scalloped-edge serving platters with polychrome floral transfer prints, an iridescent light green shell-form dish, and several miniature porcelain dishes containing small animal figurines. The assortment demonstrates various manufacturing techniques including molding, transfer printing, and hand-gilding, spanning from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century. Dimensions variable.
