Description

A varied collection of decorative arts and ceramics, primarily of British and European origin, spanning the late 19th to mid-20th centuries. The lot is highlighted by a tall Art Nouveau ceramic vase of flared form, featuring a mottled blue and green drip glaze and embossed beaded ornamentation. The collection includes Kate Greenaway-inspired porcelain items, notably a figurine of a young girl in a bonnet and a transfer-printed decorative plate. Commemorative and character wares are represented by a Winston Churchill character jug with the moulded inscription SHALL NOT FAIL and a traditional Toby-style jug depicting a gentleman in a brown hat. Further items include a rectangular pink porcelain trinket box with gilt-metal hinged mounts and floral sprays, a carved wooden figurine of a boy playing a flute, a whimsical anthropomorphic egg cup, and a miniature ceramic sewing machine. The lot is completed by various small porcelain houses, figurines, and a selection of black-ground floral decorated ceramics, including ginger jars, located on the lower shelf. Dimensions vary; tallest item approximately 25cm.
