Lot 20:
Erik Ploen Norwegian Mid-Century Studio Pottery Pitcher, circa 1949
Description
An Erik Ploen Norwegian Mid-Century Studio Pottery Pitcher, circa 1949. This ceramic pitcher features an ovoid body, an integrated handle, and an irregular rim. It is largely covered in a highly textured, dark green “lava” glaze. A smooth, contrasting panel on the front displays a vibrant, abstract composition of geometric and organic shapes in red, blue, yellow, and black, outlined in white, consistent with a modern or mid-20th-century studio pottery aesthetic. The base shows an unglazed rim, and the interior is finished with a smooth, off-white glaze. No visible maker’s marks.
