Meissen Gilt Decorated Relief Morning Glory Plate
Description
A Meissen Gilt Decorated Relief Morning Glory Plate. This white ceramic or porcelain decorative plate features a deeply molded, high-relief design of intertwined morning glories, leaves, and tendrils, extensively gilded, set against a textured white ground with a scalloped, irregular rim. The reverse side reveals a blue underglaze mark of crossed swords with a dot, characteristic of Meissen porcelain, accompanied by smaller blue characters, possibly ‘M.’ or ‘W.’ and ’79’ or ‘Nr.’. The plate is equipped with a wire hanger for display.
