Description

A lidded, two-handled ceramic or porcelain serving tureen, elaborately decorated in a neoclassical or revival style. It features vibrant hand-painted or decal motifs of peaches, grapes, and foliage set against a textured, lighter background, complemented by extensive gold-gilding on the rim, handles, and a gilded finial atop the lid. The base bears a brown transfer-printed crest comprising a crown, foliage, and ribbons, clearly enclosing the English text ‘Flora & Fauna.’ While the decorative style is highly reminiscent of Royal Worcester’s renowned fruit-painted wares, often associated with artists such as James Skerrett, the specific ‘Flora & Fauna’ mark is present. A small sticker on the lid displays ‘£600’ and ‘Du Blighte,’ with a similar, less legible marking or signature appearing on the body of the tureen.
