An English Oak Gateleg Table with Barley Twist Legs
Description
An English oak gateleg table in the Jacobean Revival style, dating from the early to mid-20th century. The table features a solid oak top comprising a central rectangular section and two semi-circular drop-leaves that extend to create an oval surface. The base is constructed with six spiral-turned barley-twist legs, two of which are on a gate-action mechanism to support the leaves. The legs are joined by low, rectangular-section stretchers. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on the exterior of the piece.
