An Ercol Goldsmith High-Back Spindle Rocking Armchair
Description
An Ercol rocking armchair, specifically the Goldsmith or Grandfather model, produced in High Wycombe, England. The chair is constructed with a solid elm saddle seat and a beech wood frame, finished in a dark-stained lacquer. It features a characteristic steam-bent hoop back with seven vertical spindles and out-swept steam-bent arms. The chair retains an original blue and gold foil label on the rear of the seat rail, which reads MADE IN ERCOL ENGLAND. It is fitted with a circular loose seat cushion upholstered in a red velvet-textured fabric, secured to the underside of the seat with leather straps and metal press-stud fasteners.
