A Linthorpe Art Pottery Vase designed by Christopher Dresser
Description
A late 19th-century earthenware vase by Linthorpe Art Pottery, Middlesbrough, designed by Dr Christopher Dresser. The vessel of globular form features a tall neck terminating in a trilobed ruffled rim, supported by a flared circular pedestal foot. The exterior is decorated with hand-painted floral and foliage sprays in autumnal shades of green, ochre, and orange over a mottled reddish-brown and orange glazed ground. The base is impressed with the LINTHORPE mark in an arc, the shape number 2010, and the monogram for Christopher Dresser. A hand-painted number 402 is also present.
